24 Jun Spring Break: Encinidas and LaJolla Shores
Spring Break is a 2 week vacation at our school and it’s usually in early-mid March. Which gives us plenty of time to escape the long, gray, dead Utah winter in search of sunlight.
This year, my hubby couldn’t leave work because he’s crunching to get this game out. So, the kids and I loaded up the car and took a few road trips to meet up with some other mama’s who were traveling alone with their kids.
I’m pretty spoiled when it comes to traveling. I like airplanes and minimum 4 star hotels. So the idea of DRIVING to California from Utah (12 hours!) was a little intimidating. But the kids and I had the best time. Seriously, I loved every second of Spring Break. Stopping whenever we wanted to, splurging on a nice room at THE hotel in Vegas midway through, and singing at the top of our lungs. It was kind of perfect… in the not so perfect because you’re without Dad kind of way, but we made the best of it.
We met up with a good friend in Encinitas, California. We’d never been there, so it was fun to experience a new beach town. But of course, no Southern California trip is complete in my mind without a day at LaJolla Shores.
