Rachel, Waterford Class of 2012 | Salt Lake City Senior Photographer

Rachel, Waterford Class of 2012 | Salt Lake City Senior Photographer

Rachel is a 2012 Waterford Senior.

Gorgeous.  Fun. Kind. Funny.  She’s got it all, folks.

We roamed all over downtown and took as much as the city in as possible.  I’m telling you, downtown SLC is so photogenic.  Add Rachel to the mix, and it’s golden.

I may or may not get in big trouble for posting these, but I just can’t resist.

2012 Seniors – it’s not too early to book your session!  Give me a call.  I love me some Senior Portraits!

Sisters are the best

Sisters are the best

You’ve seen the beautiful Tessie before, but her sister, Melissa, is new to my blog.  Although, I’m pretty sure I’ll be bribing her to come back in her ballet shoes sometime soon.

Tessie is graduating from high school this week.  And she’s moving to BOSTON for college!  I got to capture a few portraits of the two sisters before they bid her farewell.

We were having so much fun in the studio, my husband could hear us two floors up!  I just love these girls, so I’ll end on one that shows how much fun they really were.  🙂

The stunning D

The stunning D

Here is the rest of D’s maternity session.  Really, she is stunning.  She’s expecting her first baby sometime in the next 2 weeks!

D, you are BEAUTIFUL!

And, she’s just a sweetheart.  She brought her handsome hubby along for the first few minutes of the shoot and then sent him off so the rest of the session would be a surprise for him.

Taylor | Salt Lake City Senior Photographer

Taylor | Salt Lake City Senior Photographer

This girl is Hollywood-bound.  Fun, incredible dancer, and absolutely beautiful.  And, we had so much fun, I just couldn’t narrow these down.  So sit down, grab a snack, and enjoy.

Utah Senior Portraits

We started in the studio on a plain white background and then moved outdoors to mix it up.  I love every single outfit she brought.  You’re in for a treat.

I mean, come on!  Check out that dress.  Of course, all 5 of us in the room were ooo’ing and aw’ing over this amazing thing when she pulled it out.

Are you ready for this?

Her softer side:

The light…oh the light…it was breathtaking.

A few days later, I asked her if she’d be my test subject for a new light modifier that I saw at a seminar.  The below were part of an impromptu shoot later that night.  I’m kind of in love with using flashes outdoors now.

And then, some dramatic sunset action on a hill overlooking the city.

A very special thanks to Dave Brewer for the use of his studio.

And to the amazing, brilliant and beautiful Abigail Jane Steele for being our makeup artist.

Huggard Family

Huggard Family

I worked with this lovely lady for years and years.  Always the fun-loving, yet hard-working girl in the office, it was great to catch up with her and meet her family.

Her son is graduating this month from the U this month (Go Utes!) and I am in love with the school pride on display below.

Congrats!

Personal Shooting, Insane Hair and Friends

Personal Shooting, Insane Hair and Friends

Shooting just for myself is food for the soul.  I love it so much.

So, when Angie Andrews (Sweet Memory Garden) invited me to join her in shooting her gorgeous nieces the other night, I almost did a back flip off my office chair.  I was excited to hang with and shoot beside her, but little did I know that I would be walking into this awesomeness.

Kelsey and Andrea are both hair dressers and styled each other’s hair. Lovin’ it!

Kelsey soft and hazy, Andrea in contrasty and dynamic.

These two are pretty much straight out the camera.  Just a little sharpening for the web.

Joclyn’s Birthday Photo Shoot

Joclyn’s Birthday Photo Shoot

If you follow me on Facebook (which you totally should – seriously, click here to join the fun) then you may have seen my plea for wishing me luck as I ventured out to take Joclyn’s 4-year old birthday pictures.

I like to hire other photographers to take pictures of my kids.  They seem to have WAY better luck getting them to cooperate.  And Joclyn, bless her heart, has her own opinion on who is the boss in this relationship, so I like to pick my battles.  But, I was bound and determined to have at least one successful session with my own child.

So, when she got home from preschool, I didn’t even tell her what we were doing.  She was eating lunch, I just happened to be curling her hair.  She was done eating, I just happened to have a change of clothes for her.

We jumped in the car with the promise of chasing geese.  The girl loves to chase geese.  I don’t blame her – it’s hilarious.

We started off in our back yard.  We have this scrub oak forest behind our house that I’ve never ventured into.  I’m scared of it.  Scared of the spiders, and I watch WAY too many crime shows.  🙂  But there are these secret daffodils that bloom every spring, and I just had to hike down to them.

I’m happy to say, that even though we were out at high noon, I feel like I got a few good ones.  Yay for us!  Team mama and daughter conquered.  Even if that poor daffodil is in every single picture.
