5 Steps to Reduce Flyaway Hair

5 Steps to Reduce Flyaway Hair
In preparation for your senior portraits, there are some tips and tricks to help you feel and look your best. Here are 5 steps to reduce flyaway hair!
Spring Blossoms, Senior Portraits, Amanda Nelson Photography
Flyaway hair is a product of frizzy dry hair or static in the hair. To reduce flyaway hair during clothing changes or the humidity in the air, follow these steps to ensure
no flyaways on your picture day!
1. Wash
Wash with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner like “Purelogy Hydrate” (good for all hair types)
2. Condition
Condition damp hair with a light spray of leave in conditioner. “Its a 10” is a great one.
3. Before Styling
While styling, use a smoothing product like “Unite Blow and Set” before drying your hair (always dry your hair with the dryer pointing down your hair shaft to not frizz the cuticle)
4. Styling
After you curl or straighten your hair depending on the look, finish by coating the palms of your hands with “Kuene Shaping Fibers”.
5. Finish
Finish with a working hairspray like “Kenra Platinum Working Hairspray 14” so your hair will move in the photos but NOT look like a helmet head
Quick on set tricks – to reduce fly aways on location:
1. Spray a toothbrush with hairspray and lightly push them in.
2. A thin layer of hand lotion on your palms and lightly wipe the flyaway down
3. Put a dryer sheet over/into a hairbrush and brush lightly
4. If it’s a curly fly away, scrunch with a dryer sheet

A Sweet Graduation Dress | Utah Senior Portraits

A Sweet Graduation Dress | Utah Senior Portraits

Can you believe it’s May? The month of graduation. It’s a time of both reflection and excitement for new adventures.

It’s such a bittersweet time of year for me. I get a little (read: a lot) attached to the seniors I’ve photographed. Especially my senior model team and assistant. Watching them leave is a little sad, but also exciting because they keep in touch and I get to see them grow into amazing adults.

In the spirit of graduation and sweet senior girls, here’s a little graduation ensemble I put together on my Polyvore account.
